There's No Place Like Home

Well, a few weeks ago, my mom took Emma costume shopping. Needless to say, she wanted to dress up as a character that is suited for a slightly larger age group than say, um a 4 year old. So, I asked my mom to intervene and 'talk her into' being something more age appropriate (and something that more widely recognizable!) So, she decided to be Glenda the Good Witch from The Wizard of Oz.. how cute! Mom volunteered to make her costume (thanks mom, saved me some time!) Look how sweet she is! I love it! Everything is handmade, right down to her crown and wand. "There's no place like home, there's no place like home..."

Pillowcase Dress Gift Set and Fall Fun

One of my friends had a baby boy not too long ago and I wanted to make something for the new baby and his big sister. They are big Steeler fans so I thought they would enjoy these for the kids. Aren't they so cute??

I've been in a sewing mood lately and haven't been able to get much done since Emilee has been sick. She is supposed to start her first day of pre-school tomorrow, but I am keeping her home just to make sure none of the other kids get her cold. I think she will really like school once she gets used to her schedule and teacher.
I did get some sewing time in today while Em and Daddy watched some football. They were so cute cuddled in the recliner together. Zane tried to explain what all the players were doing while Em commented on the mascots. I think it will be awhile before she can really appreciate these times with her Daddy. This is what I made while they were spending some time together. I love fall and harvest time, so I thought that this was appropriate. You can order one for yourself at my etsy store.

Appliques and Crafting

Well, this is one of my most recent creations! I love doing appliques and they are super easy!! This applique took me maybe 10 minutes! The trick is this great stuff called wonder under! It keeps your fabric in place so there's no bunching! Cut out the shape of your applique. Place the "wonder under" underneath the fabric and on top of your shirt (or whatever you are attaching your applique to) You want to use 2 pieces of the wonder under because there is only glue on one side. So layer the wonder under between the shirt and your fabric. Iron over top of the fabric to adhere the wonder under. Then set your sewing machine to the zig zag stitch to desired length and width. And viola! An applique! Isn't it cute? And it looks professional!

My First Post

Greetings to all readers! This is my first post on my new blog and I'm so excited! I made this blog to release all of my crafting ideas and pass along a few tips and hints that I have found helpful.
A little about myself. I am a stay at home mom of a beautiful (almost 4 year old) daughter named, Emilee. I have a wonderful husband who "puts up" with all of my crazy crafting/sewing ideas and adventures! He's great! I own a small business and I create lots of baby items and things for moms! I make (and design) diaper bags, purses, totes, t-shirts/onesies, hair bows, cloth diapers, headbands, dresses..you name it and I will try it! I share an embroidery machine with my awesome grandma who makes these beautiful baby blankets/quilts. That machine is so neat! I have so many designs, its crazy! I especially love to do applique items. They are so adorable! I sell alot of my items through boutiques and a handcrafting site called etsy.
I love etsy! I'm an addict I guess you could say. I'm also a member of a great group on etsy called EtsyKids. Its a group of sellers who specialize in kids items, and I'm telling you, their creations are fabulous! Those people can create and make wonderful items!
You can check out my items on the link at the top of the page or here.
Let me know what you think, I love perfecting my collections! Or stop over and buy something. :) Well, that's all for now. I hope to find some great tutorials on how-to's and crafting soon. Life stays busy, it seems. Hopefully I will get to writing more posts soon! Thanks and happy crafting!
