I saw something similar to these on http://theidearoom.blogspot.com
but it called for candy canes ..and I can't find any. So I came up with this instead.
So here's what you need:
one bag of these pretzels.. they're called pretzel loops.

You will also need some either chocolate melts or chocolate chips. I used 2 bags of semi-sweet chocolate chips, but you can use white chocolate too. Here's the rest of what you will need:
Lollipop sticks, bags to put the finished lollipops inside, and a piping bag or large baggie to pipe the chocolate into the pretzels.
First, lay out a sheet of wax paper. Arrange the lollipop stick between the 2 loops so it resembles a heart (like this):
Next, you need to start your double boiler to melt the chocolate. I used 2 bags of chocolate chips and was able to get 35 lollipops out of them. A double boiler are 2 pots, one is slightly larger than the other. The pot that sits directly on the stove has water in it that boils to heat the pot that is on top of it. So the chocolate doesn't scorch as easily. This is what it will look like:
Melt the chocolate til its nice and thin... I had to add a little water to mine. Once the chocolate is melted, transfer the chocolate into piping bags or large baggies. Cut a small hole in the tip of the piping bag or if you are using a baggie, clip one of the bottom corners. Start small, you can always cut off more if you need to.
I found this tip after I had made my suckers so I don't have a picture of it, but pipe a small amount of chocolate under the lollipop stick before you fill in the pretzel loop. This make your heart lollipop sturdier. Then begin piping chocolate into your loops. Then smooth it out with your finger.
Make sure that you spread it out to fill in the entire loop and to cover your stick.. This is what holds your lollipop together once it has set. Then you can decorate if you would like. This was my daughter's favorite step. We used red decorating sugar sprinkles. Keep filling and smoothing until you have either run out of sticks or chocolate! :)

Then cut your wax paper into sections that can fit onto cookie sheets. Place them in the refrigerator to set. Once the chocolate has hardened, the lollipops easily peel off of the paper. Be very gentle with them, they do break! Next, package them so they can be given away or kept fresh. I used Wilton brand treat bags and cut a little off the bottom. They also come with twist ties so you can close them up. Here's the finished product. They are very yummy with the salty-ness from the pretzel and the sweet from the chocolate. Enjoy!
This make your heart lollipop sturdier. Then begin piping chocolate into your loops. Then smooth it out with your finger.
This is what holds your lollipop together once it has set. Then you can decorate if you would like. This was my daughter's favorite step. We used red decorating sugar sprinkles. Keep filling and smoothing until you have either run out of sticks or chocolate! :)
Enjoy!
Well, I do! I love to see the new things that are out there in the baby world and I also love to give baby gifts..mostly because no one believes that I make the items that I give! Ha.
Etsy hosts a shower for members of Etsy or shop owners a few times a year. They find moms who are expecting or have recently had a baby and they match them up with shops who will donate items as their gifts. Very fun!
This year I was matched with a woman who doesn't know the gender of the baby..so hard to make gender neutral things! So, I decided to donate a bib and burp set in the Alexander Henry print Apples and Pears. Love it!
If you get a moment, check out the Baby shower blog (say that five times fast!) So, she decided to be Glenda the Good Witch from The Wizard of Oz.. how cute! Mom volunteered to make her costume (thanks mom, saved me some time!) Look how sweet she is! I love it! They are big Steeler fans so I thought they would enjoy these for the kids. Aren't they so cute??

I've been in a sewing mood lately and haven't been able to get much done since Emilee has been sick. She is supposed to start her first day of pre-school tomorrow, but I am keeping her home just to make sure none of the other kids get her cold. I think she will really like school once she gets used to her schedule and teacher.
I did get some sewing time in today while Em and Daddy watched some football. They were so cute cuddled in the recliner together. Zane tried to explain what all the players were doing while Em commented on the mascots. I think it will be awhile before she can really appreciate these times with her Daddy. This is what I made while they were spending some time together. I love fall and harvest time, so I thought that this was appropriate. I love doing appliques and they are super easy!! This applique took me maybe 10 minutes! The trick is this great stuff called wonder under! It keeps your fabric in place so there's no bunching! Cut out the shape of your applique. Place the "wonder under" underneath the fabric and on top of your shirt (or whatever you are attaching your applique to) You want to use 2 pieces of the wonder under because there is only glue on one side. So layer the wonder under between the shirt and your fabric. Iron over top of the fabric to adhere the wonder under. Then set your sewing machine to the zig zag stitch to desired length and width. And viola! An applique! Isn't it cute? And it looks professional!DesignABag Bow-tiquehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02844990677195538204noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-886320474716714388.post-70324180871415824812009-08-07T02:18:00.000-04:002009-08-06T23:19:16.824-04:00My First Post Greetings to all readers! This is my first post on my new blog and I'm so excited! I made this blog to release all of my crafting ideas and pass along a few tips and hints that I have found helpful.
A little about myself. I am a stay at home mom of a beautiful (almost 4 year old) daughter named, Emilee. I have a wonderful husband who "puts up" with all of my crazy crafting/sewing ideas and adventures! He's great! I own a small business and I create lots of baby items and things for moms! I make (and design) diaper bags, purses, totes, t-shirts/onesies, hair bows, cloth diapers, headbands, dresses..you name it and I will try it! I share an embroidery machine with my awesome grandma who makes these beautiful baby blankets/quilts. That machine is so neat! I have so many designs, its crazy! I especially love to do applique items. They are so adorable! I sell alot of my items through boutiques and a handcrafting site called etsy.
I love etsy! I'm an addict I guess you could say. I'm also a member of a great group on etsy called EtsyKids. Its a group of sellers who specialize in kids items, and I'm telling you, their creations are fabulous! Those people can create and make wonderful items!
You can check out my items on the link at the top of the page or here.
Let me know what you think, I love perfecting my collections! Or stop over and buy something. :) Well, that's all for now. I hope to find some great tutorials on how-to's and crafting soon. Life stays busy, it seems. Hopefully I will get to writing more posts soon! Thanks and happy crafting!
DesignABag Bow-tiquehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02844990677195538204noreply@blogger.com0
